Investing in Funds

How do they work?

Each ICVC contains one or more ‘sub-funds’ (we’ll call them funds from now on). Although all the funds within an ICVC are different, they may have a common theme (for example,
they all invest in stocks and shares of a particular type or from a particular country or region) and the ICVC itself acts like an umbrella above all of the funds. Each fund may be managed
by a different fund manager.

When you select one or more of the funds to invest in, your investment will buy you a fraction of each of the stocks and shares that the fund holds. The fund manager will then use his or her knowledge and experience to buy and sell, increase or reduce, the portions of each investment held in the fund, aiming to boost the overall value of your shares.
